Palliative and respite care hospice for those affected and infected by AIDS and HIV at Waterberg Welfare Society

Education for the following is provided:

  • primary health care workers - WWS provides monthly training on general primary health care to primary health care workers from local farms.
  • monthly pre-school training for crèche teachers from local farms is given by a volunteer teacher from the Waterberg Academy.
  • voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) - WWS staff are trained as VCT counsellors.
  • prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS counsellors(PMTCT) - pregnant mothers attend workshops about the potential risk of infection of their unborn child and are encouraged to join the PMTCT programme.
  • life skills - WWS youth workers run life-skills workshops in the local schools.
